TONIGHT from the Malvern Town Hall, undefeated middleweight prospect Michael Zerafa continues his rise up the domestic middleweight ratings, when he takes on battle tested veteran Joe Rea.
Despite being relatively untested, Zerafa, 22, is undefeated and sports an enthusiastic resume which currently stands at 14-0 (7 KOs). His opponent, Irishman Joe Rea (9-13-1, 4 KOs) has recently re-located to Australia after being based in the United Kingdom for the majority of his professional career.
Zerafa was last seen in February, where he outscored fellow unbeaten prospect Luke Sharp in a lively contest at the Eatons Hill Function Centre in Queensland. Since then, Zerafa has had multiple fights fall through as he chases another marquee win in his budding professional career.
Rea, 30, a one-time contestant on the widely renowned Prize Fighter series, should provide boxing enthusiasts with some kind of gauge on Zerafa, as he has faced some talented prospects in his ten year career – most notably Frank Buglioni, Gregorz Proksa, Patrick Nielsen and former interim title holder Martin Murray.
With that said, Rea is coming off a first round knockout loss to Rocky Jerkic in April, which was his second fight in Australia.
The card will also feature bouts from former WBA top-ten world rated light heavyweight Manny Vlamis, as well as the return of former Kronk boxer Pierre Karam.
