Billy Dib to Jack Asis: “I accept, let the negotiations begin”

BILLY Dib has publicly stated that he’s willing to give a rematch to IBO super featherweight champion Jack Asis.

Previously the only talk of the bout was done in private with Dib personally phoning Asis’ manager Brendon Smith on two occasions.

Today, Dib (39-4, 23 KOs) took to social media to confirm his interest in a possible rematch with Asis (34-18-5, 18 KOs), who lifted the IBO super featherweight title earlier this year.

“Five years ago Jack Asis and I faced off in Wollongong in a fight that I won via a 4th round decisive knockout,” said Dib in his Facebook post.

“In what could be called a Cinderella story he has gone on to become the current IBO super featherweight champion. However the loss to me still bothers him and he has thrown down the challenge,”

“My response is I accept. Let the negotiations begin,”

Dib was also interviewed on WIN News last night, where he further expressed his interest in fighting Asis.

“I always like a challenge and I spoke to Brendon Smith expressing my interest in fighting Jack in a rematch and Brendon was all for it.”

In the interview Dib was also very forthright on what he believes the outcome will be.

“I don’t envision Jack would be the type of fighter that could beat me,” Dib told WIN News.

The pair met five years ago in Wollongong with Billy Dib winning by fourth round knockout. However, this time around Asis is adamant that a second fight would be different.

“This time will be very different, this time I knock you out,” Asis added. “You no longer the champion, I’m the holder of the IBO world title,”

“I know you call my manager saying you want to fight me, well I’m excited. After this fight you retire.”

Its clear that Asis and Dib both want the fight, so now it comes down to negotiations for this super fight which has been aptly billed revenge vs. redemption.

“As Jack’s manager I will do all I can to make this fight happen,” Brendon Smith said.
