CLASSY Englishman Tyrone Nurse has touched down in Sydney ahead of his fight with Australian Jack Brubaker at The Star on Thursday night.

Nurse (35-3-2, 7 KOs) and Brubaker (13-2-1, 7 KOs) will take part in a final eliminator for the Commonwealth welterweight title – presently held by Australian Kris George – on a card that has been dubbed ‘British Beef’.

Nurse will go into the welterweight bout as a heavy favourite and has detailed the extent of his confidence, revealing he has never watched a frame of his opponent in action.

“I haven’t seen him at all, to be honest. I tend to leave that to my trainers but I have complete confidence in my own ability whoever they put in front of me,” announced Nurse, shortly after disembarking his flight.

“I might sneak a little peak at him on YouTube between now and the fight if I have some time to kill but I know I’m still going to be the same Tyrone, whatever I see in him, and I’m confident that will be enough.”

“It’s fair to say I’ve been boxing at a different level to him and I believe in myself. I actually feel more at home in a boxing ring than I do in my own living room.”

The former British light welterweight titleholder is commencing a campaign at welterweight against Brubaker, but doesn’t foresee any stylistic changes at the new weight.

“It’s an extra seven pounds on my body and an easier time at the weigh-in, but I won’t be going into the fight looking for anything different,” says Nurse.

“I might have some extra power but I’ll definitely still have my quick hands – fast feet and good head movement – those are my real strengths.”

“It’s my first time in Australia, so I will be looking to get the result and maybe get a chance to see if it’s a future holiday destination as well. My only prediction for the fight is that it will be a Tyrone Nurse victory, that’s all I know.”

The fight between Nurse and Brubaker will headline a stacked card that also boasts a highly anticipated OPBF welterweight title clash between Ben Savva and Kyron Dryden, as well as the unbeaten Tim Tszyu’s clash with leading Indonesian light middleweight Larry Siwu.
