IN a landmark deal, Aus-Boxing will partner with fledgling promotional firm WILDFIGHTER as part of an exclusive multi-event online broadcasting agreement in 2019.
The progressive deal will see at least 20 fights staged in Melbourne, featuring a variety of Australia’s best boxing prospects in competitive matchups in the newly-built Port Melbourne venue The Timber Yard.
Founded by former super featherweight titleholder Will Tomlinson, the Melbourne-based events company will operate with a ‘for the fighters’ mentality, highlighting a need for high-level domestic fights, showcasing a variety of athletes across multiple states.
“Having reached the highest level of the sport as a fighter, I know what this sport needs, not only from a fighters perspective but also a fans perspective,” said Tomlinson.
“I’m very excited to secure the first-ever online broadcast deal in Australian boxing.”
Tomlinson roster of fighters includes former Australian light welterweight champion Qamil Balla, among a slew of promising prospects with the likes of state titleholders Eman Carlos, Kayne Clarke and unbeaten featherweight firebrand Hunter Ioelu.
“My experience at the highest level, which saw me campaign in both Australia and the US highlighted a need to fill the gap for Australians with world level ambitions,” he added.
“Although there are opportunities to fight domestically, there is a lack of competitive opposition and match-ups. Im excited for my new role in the sport and am looking for hungry, exciting fighters who are looking to go all the way.”
“After an extensive scouting campaign, I have secured a quality list of guys to work with, which currently includes a host of prospects from both Melbourne and interstate, with the aim of creating a nationally recognised brand.”
“We will offer the fans an in-venue experience unlike any currently offered in Australian boxing.”
The promotional debut of WILDFIGHTER will take place on March 23rd, with card details to be announced in early January.
