WE thought Anthony Mundine’s professional career was over.
However, the former three-division titleholder made a shock announcement on morning breakfast show Sunrise, confirming his intentions to fight on and pursue a rematch with Jeff Horn.
“After reflecting on the last fight, I wanted to sail into the sunset,” Mundine told Sunrise.
“[I wanted to] have that fight and win that fight. The way things turned out, ‘The Man’ can’t go out like that. I can’t go out in that fashion. I want to get the get back with Horn.
“I’m not retiring, I’m coming back. I might be the Michael Jackson, I’m going to come back from the dead.”
The 43-year-old last fought against Jeff Horn in December, falling inside of one round at Suncorp Stadium.
Despite the result and subsequent loss, Mundine (48-9, 28 KOs) believes he’ll earn a rematch by winning a comeback fight.

“I just want that get back with Horn,” he added.
“Obviously if I lose again, I’m done, [but] I feel too good and too fresh. The last fight against Horn was God’s will.”
Although an agreement is yet to be reached, Mundine confirmed that he’s in negotiations to face Melbourne-based former Commonwealth champion, Michael Zerafa.
Zerafa (25-3, 14 KOs) last fought in December, losing a competitive decision to former IBF welterweight titleholder Kell Brook in Sheffield.
“Zerafa is a good fighter,” Mundine quipped.
“He’s come back from England after a goood performance against Kell Brook. He didn’t win, but he put up a good fight.”
