TONIGHT from Rumours International in Toowoomba, Queensland, promoter Brendon Smith of Smithy’s Promotions presents an enthusiastic ten-fight card headlined by dangerous super featherweight veteran ‘Kangaroo’ Jack Asis (31-18-5, 16 KOs), who will be challenged by bip-punching Brazilian veteran Isaias Santos Sampaio (19-8, 19 KOs) over ten heats for the vacant WBA Oceania super featherweight title.

 
Asis, 31, is riding an impressive eleven-fight unbeaten streak, having disposed of some credible opposition including Japanese import Ryusei Yoshida, the previously unbeaten Maxsaisai Sithsaithong as well as Nestor Rocha and world rated lightweight Josh King.

 
Sampaio, 28, has lost when he has stepped up his opposition, most notably in losses to former WBA featherweight champion Jonathan Barros and former world title challengers Fernando David Saucedo and Daniel Estrada.

 
If anything, Sampaio should provide Asis with a lively encounter while it lasts, given that all his fights with the exception of one have ended in a knockout of some kind.

 
Promoter Brendon Smith furthered the importance of tonight’s title fight, highlighting the fact that the winner will receive a top-fifteen world rating by the WBA.

 
“This is a crucial fight for both men – the winner will move a step closer to a world title – while the loser will be at the crossroads,” said Smith.

 
The semi-main event will be the first of two title fights showcased on the card, with underrated prospect Kris George (6-0, 5 KOs) taking on late substitute Amor Tino (14-19-4, 4 KOs) for the WBA Oceania light welterweight bauble.

 
George, 25, was last seen in action in March, knocking out previously unbeaten prospect Ozan Craddock for the Queensland welterweight title, despite fighting with a broken hand. Tino, 29, hasn’t won a fight in two years, but floored highly rated Australian prospect Sam Ah-See in the second round of their six-round fight last month.
