Manny Siaca – “I believe my experience will win me this fight”

FORMER WBA super-middleweight world champion Manny Siaca (25-7, 20 KOs) has returned to Australian shores with only one thing in mind, victory.

The Puerto Rican returns to take on heavy handed and fast rising Queenslander, Rohan Murdock (15-1, 12 KOs) for the WBO Asia Pacific title this Thursday November 6th at Jupiters Resort and Casino on the Gold Coast. Murdoch will be stepping up in competition to test himself against the experienced veteran.

Siaca believes his experience in fighting top level opposition in the super middleweight division will hold him in good stead against Murdock.

“I have been in with the best and have fought top level opposition my entire career. I have fought Kessler, Branco, Mundine, Danny Green and Byron Mitchell twice, so I believe my experience will win me this fight” he said.

Siaca has been relatively inactive of recent times, only fighting once in the past three years but says it won’t be a problem come fight night.

“It won’t be a problem for me. I have been very active throughout this time always in the gym working and sparring. You will see come fight time”.

Siaca says he loves Australia and feels as though he has a second home here. He has been here twice, famously winning a split decision against Anthony Mundine back in 2004 after knocking him down in the second round to take Mundine’s world title, only to lose to Mikkel Kessler in his first defence of that title.

He came back six years later to fight then IBO cruiserweight Danny Green only to lose by knockout in three rounds to the heavy-punching West Australian.

Siaca says he has been training especially hard for this fight and says a win will catapult him back up into the world rankings and a back into bigger fights.

“I have been training hard for the last eight weeks in Puerto Rico. I have had a great camp and have been injury free. My body feels great and I am looking forward to putting in a great performance” he said.

Also featuring on the card will be WIBA Heavyweight world title fight between Australia’s Lisa Marie Vizaniari and American Kathy Rivers. The card also boasts “King” Dane Mulivai, former Australian heavyweight champion, Nathan Briggs, Matt Casboult, James Porter and Michael Mlacic, who will also be fighting on the card.

The night is brought to you by Jamie Myer Productions.
