VIDEO: Zac Dunn talks Beibi Berrocal, Domestic Fights and More
ONLY days away from the biggest night of his professional career, world rated super middleweight Zac Dunn is confident he has what it takes to conquer the super middleweight division.
Dunn, 24, puts his unbeaten record on the line when he faces big-punching Colombian wildcard Beibi Berrocal on Friday night at the Royal Exhition Building in Carlton.
Speaking from his training base at Fighting Lyons Fitness Centre, Dunn (16-0, 14 KOs) spoke to Aus-Boxing with the confidence of a fighter who believes he is on the cusp of something big.
“I had my first amateur fight when I was fourteen,” said Dunn in an exclusive interview with Aus-Boxing. “I got a bronze medal at the World Cadets when I was sixteen and I turned professional at twenty one,”
“I lived in Cuba for eight months all up. I’ve been to Azerbaijan – that’s where I won the bronze medal – I’ve been to the Philippines, I’ve been to Russia, I’ve been through the Ukraine to get to Russia, even Guadalajara in Mexico,”
While he is only one fight away from securing his first world title fight, Dunn believes he is still a few years away from his physical prime.
“I think I’m three years away (from where I want to be),” Dunn continued. “Maybe when I’m twenty six or twenty eight, it’s a good age I reckon, when I’m more mature.”
“I want to have more than one world title under my belt – I want to unite – maybe two, three or four world titles, as many as I can. I want to bring the excitement back to Australia.”
