VIDEO: Billy Dib backs Sakio Bika to dethrone Adonis Stevenson
WBC super featherweight title contender Billy Dib is throwing his support behind Sakio Bika ahead of his bid to dethrone lineal light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson in Quebec City, Canada next week.
Former WBC super middleweight champion Sakio Bika will be stepping up in weight to contest the title against Adonis Stevenson, nicknamed Superman.
“Moving up in weight for Sakio is a good move; super middleweight was probably draining him a little,” said Dib in the video interview.
Adonis, undefeated since 2010 – is considered to be the best light heavyweight in the world – and goes into the contest as the favourite but his recent performance against Andrezj Fonfara was laboured and showed that the champion was vulnerable against strong opposition.
“I don’t feel he (Adonis) has proven himself;” he continued. “He is not the Roy Jones caliber of fighter,”
“You can never count Sakio Bika out, he’s just got the warrior heart,”
“He has been in so many wars and come out on top and this is one i feel he can definitely pull off,”
Bika has been twelve rounds with the best fighters in the world and has taken undefeated Joe Calzaghe and Andre Ward the distance. He is a true champion who has never been stopped and has always fought the best in the division.
“It would be an amazing achievement;” Dib added. “To become a legitimate two-time world champion and it is something he can definitely do,”
The fight can be seen live on Main Event in Australia. The broadcast will start at 5am AEST on Sunday April 5th 2015.
