Zac Dunn vs. Rogerio Damasco set for February 26th in Melbourne

ZAC Dunn will open his year against Brazilian import Rogerio Damasco on Febuary 26th in Melbourne.

The team of Dunn, 24, has openly flirted with the possibility of a domestic showdown with Daniel Geale at some point this year, but have been unable to secure a television date for the much-talked crossroads fight.

In the meanwhile, the Melbourne-based Dunn (19-0, 15 KOs) will face the Sao Paulo-based Damasco.

Damasco, 32, boasts a padded record (22-3-2, 19 KOs) built mainly in his homeland of Brazil, consisting of wins over only five opponents with winning records. Damasco has left Brazil three times, losing all three attempts by knockout.

The Brazilian ventured to New Zealand in 2014, where he was blown out by Robert Berridge in a singular round.

Dunn, who is coming off two hard-fought wins, is due for a soft touch but Damasco should provide little resistance.

It appears unlikely that Dunn – who won the belt with a thrilling unanimous decision over Max Bursak at the Royal Exhibition Building last June – will be making the first defence of his IBO super middleweight title.

An official announcement has not been made by the event promoter in regards to the IBO title status.

At the time of publishing, Damasco was unranked by the IBO.
