Danny Green confirms December 2nd date with Konni Konrad

FORMER world champion Danny Green continues his comeback on December 2nd, signing to face Germany’s Konni Konrad (22-2-1, 11 KOs) in Melbourne.

Green, 42, ended a near three-year hiatus in August, scoring a comfortable decision over Roberto Bolonti at Melbourne’s Hisense Arena.

At a media gathering at Crown Casino, the popular West Australian confirmed he will next be facing Konrad – who most recently challenged for the WBA light heavyweight title last month – a belt that Green once held.

The Montenegro-born Konrad, 30, has agreed to challenge Green at an agreed cruiserweight catchweight of 86 kilograms as Green continues his transition towards light heavyweight.

“It was good to blow off cobwebs in my last fight,” admitted Green at the press conference. “It wasn’t spectacular but that’s to be expected. It will definitely hold me in good stead,”

“This bloke has just fought Jurgen Braehmer for a world title so he is definitely going to be a very stern test.”

As it has now become the norm, Green also traded barbs with long-time rival Anthony Mundine, who Green is angling to fight at some point next year.

“Mundine has called me aloof,” said Green.

“I’m not sure if I will go to his fight. If I do I am sure he’ll be running the other way,”

“I have also been in touch with Malcolm Turnbull to see if we can accommodate his requests.”
