Jason Whateley pens co-management agreement
CRUISERWEIGHT prospect Jason Whateley has signed a co-management agreement with Matt Clark and Marcos Amado.
The former Olympian and Commonwealth Games silver medalist looks forward to progressing his career under Amado, who also trains Whateley, and Clark, who guided Lucas Browne to a regular version of the WBA heavyweight championship.
“I feel like I started having success internationally as an amateur, yet I am more suited to the pro ranks,” said Whateley in a press release.
“I’m excited to take this next step in the pro game and sign a management agreement with a team that can help me further my career and fulfill my goals. I look forward to seeing what I can do on the world stage.”
The 28-year-old is coming off a six round demolition of hard-hitting veteran Victor Oganov, improving his professional ledger to five wins from as many starts.
“I believe Jason has the X-Factor that the Australian sporting public has been waiting to get excited about,” added Amado.
“He’s the hardest working and most down to earth boxer you’ll come across. He has an amateur pedigree, with talent to burn.”
Having seen what is required to compete at the highest level, Clark is pleased with his latest acquisition.
“Jason is an exciting prospect whose all action style is tailor made for TV,” he concluded.
“He has a tremendous work-rate for a guy standing over six feet and fighting in the cruiserweight division. I’m proud that he has placed his faith in Marcos and myself and I’m looking forward to being a part of his journey.
“Jason has an enormous future in the sport.”
