12 Rounds, Middleweight – WBA/IBO middleweight titles
Round 1:
Geale in the silver and black trunks, while Golovkin is in the white. Golovkin putting on a fair bit of pressure on Geale. Golovkin got off some solid shots on a nervous looking Geale – who trips over the camera wire – bringing him to the floor, ruled a slip. Geale looked to be cut from a clash of heads. A competitive opening round. Golovkin 10-9
Round 2:
Geale down early in the round, from a short shot that looked to land on the back of his head. He beats the count and doesn’t look too hurt as it wasn’t a heavy shot. Geale boxing on the ropes a bit more in this round. Total punches at this point favour Golovkin, who has landed 37 of 134 with Geale at 28 of 106. Golovkin 20-17.
Round 3:
Geale down again in Round three and the referee wisely waves it off. It’s over. The replay shows Geale defending himself off the ropes, before launching a glancing right hand. Golovkin counters with a right hand that lands flush. Golovkin TKO 3.
