Opportunity knocks for the Moloney brothers
ON Wednesday morning, the headline was all about the highly anticipated return of four-time world champion, Danny Green.
He held his press conference to announce his return bout with Slovak opponent Tamas Kovacs at Melbourne’s Hisense Arena on August 19th.
There was also another announcement at that press conference made by Green himself that no-one saw coming.
The appearance of Melbourne’s highly popular and super talented Moloney twins, Andrew and Jason on the undercard.
In what is a huge opportunity for both boys, their father Darrel was excited about the news that his sons’ will appear on national TV in an event that will attract a sold out Hisense Arena and hold big pay-per-view numbers.
“Yeah I am just wrapped for the boys,” he admitted. “They work so hard at what they do and they really deserve this opportunity,”
“The whole family is very proud and we are looking forward to the night of August 19th,”
Head trainer Brian Butler was visibly excited at the fact his two young pupils are set for the big stage and believes they are more than ready.
“They will be ready, no worries,” Butler added.
“All we are waiting for is the two opponents and we will be set to go,”
After the announcement, the twins spoke exclusively to Aus-Boxing about what it means to be given such a huge opportunity on such a big event.
“Both myself and Andrew are just wrapped to be given the news,” said Jason. “We both look up to Danny and have followed his career for years. To be given such an opportunity is just amazing, a dream come true really.”
Andrew concurred moments later.
“Like Jason said it is just a fantastic opportunity to be given,” he quipped. “We are both very thankful for it and come the night of August 19 we will be ready to jump in there and give it our all,”
“It’s all very exciting given it’s a pay-per-view broadcast so to be given that kind of exposure is fantastic for both of us,”
When quizzed about who they will be squaring off against, Jason had this to say.
“Not particularly sure at the moment, but that is something our management will take care of. We are both very fortunate enough to have a great team of people around us who have years of experience,”
“We put our trust in them and know they will do what is best. We both are finding it a bit difficult to get opponents of late which makes it hard to stay busy.”
“At some point we will step up to fight better opposition so until then we will just keep working hard and hopefully keep getting the results we have been getting,”
Team Moloney set to take centre stage at Hisense Arena on “Green vs Kovacs” undercard August 19 in what should be a fantastic night of fights.
Fight fans, get there and support two fantastic young men.
