Rohan Murdock looks to impress in Manny Siaca showdown

 
HIGHLY touted super middleweight prospect Rohan Murdock (15-1, 12 KOs) will look to raise his profile and continue his steady rise when he is challenged by former WBA super middleweight champion Manny Siaca (25-7, 20 KOs).

 
The ten round fight, pencilled in for November 6th at Jupiters Casino will provide fight fans and pundits alike an opportunity to evaluate Murdock’s burgeoning skill set against a respected figure, who at one point held a piece of the super middleweight championship.

 
Although Siaca, 38, has fought only once in almost three years, he has fought some high-level operators including former world champions Silvio Branco, Byron Mitchell and Mikkel Kessler as well as notable Australian fighters Danny Green and Anthony Mundine.

 
Murdock, 22, has been on an impressive tear, winning thirteen consecutive fights since his lone defeat to kickboxing convert Steve Moxon in 2011. The Nerang-based product has improved with time with his winning streak including credible local names such as Les Piper, Togasilimai Letoa and Argentine veteran Gaston Alejandro Vega.

 
“I have definitely come a long way since my loss in 2011 and I now approach the sport with a completely different professionalism and drive,” said Murdock in an exclusive interview with Aus-Boxing. “Finding local opponents has been very difficult with several falling through last minute. Fortunately, we have been lucky enough thanks to my team to secure international opposition which will boost us up the world ratings.”

 
Despite going into this fight as an understandably heavy favourite, Murdock was respectful when assessing his opponents qualities and expects to see a motivated and upset-minded Siaca in the opposing corner on fight night.

 
“With this fight against Manny Siaca, I have a massive amount of respect for him as I watched him defeat Anthony Mundine – who is such a big name in Aussie boxing – and earning the WBA world title.” Murdock continued.

 
“With Manny’s experience and determination to put himself back into the world ratings, I believe this will make a great fight. This fight will show the Australian public what I can bring to the table against quality world class boxers.”

 
The card, which will be promoted by prominent Gold Coast boxing identity Jamie Myer, will boast a six fight undercard including towering womens heavyweight Lisa Marie Vizaniari as well as regarded prospect Matt Casboult amongst others.
