Shannon O’Connell signs with FightCard Promotions

FIGHTCARD Promotions is excited and proud to announce that ‘Shotgun’ Shannon O’Connell has signed a long term managerial and promotional agreement.

The most recognisable face of female boxing in Australia, Shannon’s career is certainly on a path to the very top of the boxing world.

“My career has been a real roller coaster ride with plenty of up’s and down’s, this is certainly one of the up’s and I’m looking forward to the challenge of the next few years.” said O’Connell. “I’ve been speaking to FightCard since just after my exhibition fight fell over late last year. I’ve had some big fights in the last 12 months but unfortunately to chase my dreams I’ve had no choice but to fight way higher my natural weight division.”

“I just want to box and to prove that I belong at the top of the sport. In the team at FightCard and with my trainer Phil Holiday, I now have a solid team to prove I’m not only one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in Australia but also my main goal is to prove that I’m the best super-bantamweight in the World. I know I can beat anyone as a super bantam and I’m going to prove it”.

Adding to a stable that currently includes World ranked boxers Jarrod Fletcher and Joel Brunker, amongst it’s many talented boxers, FightCard Promotions now adds another world class boxer who’s ready to achieve on the big stage.

Currently supporting a 8-3 record, Shannon’s recent fights have seen her challenge for titles in higher weight divisions, but its challenging as a super bantamweight that FightCard will focus on.

“Shannon is a great person and an amazingly talented boxer, her record as both a credentialed amateur and successful professional speaks to that” said Adam Wilcock from FightCard Promotions.

“I’ve been speaking to Shannon for a long time now and this is the right time for both parties. Having spent time guiding Diana (Prazak) to her world titles and the top of her division, I’ve built some world level contacts that Shannon will now benefit from. We’ve brought the best female boxers in the world out to Australia before and we’ll do it again.”

“We’ve sat down and planned Shannon on a path to the very top of her natural weight division. I think Shannon is one of those boxers that the whole Australian boxing community want to see be successful. I’m very excited to have Shannon as part of our FightCard team that has some amazing talent, but regardless of talent we only include boxers who are good, honest and loyal people. FightCard is starting to build a great team across all of Australia and there are some good times ahead for the whole team.”
