VIDEO: Zac Dunn on Max Bursak, IBO super middleweight title fight

IN just over a week, undefeated Australian and world rated super middleweight Zac Dunn will share a ring with esteemed Ukrainian veteran Max Bursak for the IBO super middleweight title at the Royal Exhibition Building.

The Melbourne-based Dunn has breezed through his opposition thus far as a professional and it is to the surprise of few that he will be challenging for a version of the super middleweight championship next Saturday.

But what makes his next opponent unlike anything Dunn (17-0, 15 KOs) has faced before, is that Bursak (31-3-1, 14 KOs) has faced legitimate world class opposition and hasn’t been stopped inside the distance.

In a recently filmed video profile, Dunn talks about his looming challenge against the durable Bursak and how he plans to become the first man to definitively beat the Ukrainian.

“I always go in there super fit. My body shots are pretty good,” said Dunn. “My key shot changes all the time, depending on how I’m feeling and who I’m fighting,”

“It’s not just one single shot changes the fight,”

Dunn’s team has taken a talented amateur pupil and moulded their charge into a world rated super middleweight that holds a formidable attacking presence.

The 24-year-old Dunn briefly elaborates about his team in the video profile, acknowledging their hard work.

“You have to have the right people behind you and be a good boxer as well to get where you want to get to,”

“When you have the whole crowd behind you in a fight, it’s an amazing feeling. It lifts you to look better – and to do better – and to be better,”

Having had a professional career fought entirely out of Melbourne, not many have had the privilege of seeing Dunn in the flesh. One of the few that has is Dunn’s manager Barry Michael, who speaks highly of his fighter.

“I really think that Zac Dunn is going to be the next big name in Australian boxing,” said Michael.

“Bursak has only lost three our of thirty four fights, all by decision,”

“It’s going to be a tough fight for Zac and I’m tipping that he’ll be the first man to stop Bursak inside the distance,”

“What I love about working with him is that he’s a full on professional. Some boxers you have to baby sit – and they do your head in – but Zac Dunn knows what he has to do,”
