Sakio Bika presents Mark Flanagan with Knockout of the Year belt

BIG punching cruiserweight Mark Flanagan had his Knockout of the Year belt presented to him last week.

The award, which was sponsored by former WBC super middleweight champion Sakio Bika and his pending documentary was awarded to Flanagan in front of an enthusiastic crowd at Bika’s media day.

Flanagan, 24, had a signature year in 2014, starting with his highlight-reel knockout of Andrew Green, before winning national honours against Daniel Ammann as well as a thrilling title defence against Shane Quinn in December.

“I’ve been a big fan of Sakio’s for a long time,” said Flanagan (17-4, 10 KOs) during the belt presentation.

“I think he’s going to win easy over there (in Canada), he’s fought better fights and I think light heavyweight is his division,”

“I’m just waiting on my promoter Angelo Di Carlo for our next fight date,” he continued. “We’re looking at April or May, but not names yet, so watch this space soon,”

“They were my first rounds since my last fight, but I felt I did pretty good. The rounds were good, but I felt like I could’ve done a lot better.”

“I was a bit star struck at the start,” admitted Flanagan on sparring with Bika. “But once the punches started going it was back to work,”
