Tyson Fury on Chagaev vs. Browne: “Hopefully big Lucas wins”

IF heavyweight kingpin Tyson Fury has his way, Lucas Browne will dethrone Ruslan Chagaev this weekend.

Fury, 27, was in attendance for the highly anticipated unification bout between unbeaten duo Carl Frampton and Scott Quigg in England. It was there where the divisional leader (25-0, 18 KOs) made his thoughts known.

“I think Lucas Browne has got a good chance, he’s the younger man,” said Fury to iFLTV.

“He’s fresher, let’s say that. He is unbeaten and he’s a knockout artist. Hopefully big Lucas wins,”

Browne, 36, and Chagaev, 37, will collide on Sunday morning (EST) for the WBA regular title in Grozny. While not guaranteed, the winner will more than likely be in the running to face Fury, who holds the WBA super title.

Fury, who is renowned for his outspoken demeanour, pulled no punches when assessing Chagaev.

“I know Chagaev, obviously. I’ve watched him box for a long time, but he’s been there and done it,” Fury added.

“He’s too old. I want to see a new face with a new title,”

Browne’s historic attempt at the WBA heavyweight title will be televised live on MAIN EVENT.
